Estimating a job

HMB supports both Fixed Price and Time and Materials billing.

The process if essentially the same for both Billing Types, you build the quote or estimate by adding Items to each Task, adding pricing information to each Item.

Read the next section for details on the different types of Item types you can use to compose a quote.

Creating a Quote or Estimate

Start by creating a Job and then create a Task for each of the major work Items.

An example of a Task might be 'paint a room'.

The Task then would be composed of a number of Items such as:

• Labour - preparation and masking 1.5 hrs

• Paint - 4ltrs - $80, margin 20%.

• Organize Paint match: .75hrs.

• Labour = first coat 2hrs

• Labour - 2nd coat 1.5 hrs

• Labour - cleanup .75hrs

The level of detail is completely up to you. Just break down the Task into chunks that you can confidently estimate.
